I'm living in Switzerland and am an owner of a 1988 780 Bertone. Unfortunately somebody crashed into the right
door (co-driver) and there's no chance to repair it anymore. Do you know how and where to find parts like that? Is

I hope you can assist us with our inquiry about the actual year of our Bertone. Does the serial number give any indication?

We have what we believe to be a '78 Bertone. I say this because an individual who is interested in buying it has questioned the year. All we have is the title and manual which say '78. We have been asked questions about the number of scews holding the front turn indicators, the grill and the bumpers. the car has been painted and the bumpers are all black. The wheels are the "alloy' style but in the manual, the purchase date is 9/78. Can you give us any help as to definitely determining the year.
By the way, the car has 63,000 miles, is in very good shape. I tried to get a price off your site but was not able. Can you also help with this?

Excellent site, very informative!!  Those 262c's are really awesome machines.  I had one for a short time when I lived in the U.K. and loved it, like an old friend.

Ik heb met vreugd de site bekeken. Maar ik zal eerlijk zijn, ik heb welliswaar een 480 maar daar gaat het niet om. Ik heb ook een DeLorean. Deze heeft de PRV6 motor met de volgende configuratie: 130 PK, 8,8:1 K-jet, 208 Nm.

Ik ben op zoek naar een mogelijkheid om hier meer vermogen uit te halen. Nou denk ik dat ik het heb gevonden.

De motor zoals die in mijn D is gebruikt heet bij Volvo de B28A. Volvo heeft later de B28E geleverd. (155 PK, 9,5:1 K-jet) Ik vermoed dat deze specificatie meer vermogen levert omdat de compressie hoger is en waarschijnlijk zullen de nokkenassen afwijken. Ik heb ook het vermoeden dat je niet hetzelfde effect kan bereiken met de koppen van de B28A door deze af te vlakken zodat de compressie eveneens 9,5:1 zal worden omdat de kleppen dan tegen de zuiger zouden kunnen slaan. Dit denk ik omdat in de werkplaatshandboeken van zowel Volvo als de D staat dat de koppen absoluut niet gevlakt mogen worden.

In ieder geval. Het lijkt mij gewoon duidelijk. Ik moetgewoon koppen van een B28E bemachtigen en deze wisselen en hop, 25 PK gewonnen.

Weet U? of ik het hier bij het rechte eind heb of dat er een addertje onder het gras ligt. Dan als tweede vraag, enig idee hoe ik aan die koppen kom?

Nice to find this page! I've just imported a 1990 780.16V.Turbo from Luxembourg to the Netherlands. What an experience to drive such a beautifull and powerfull car! I just registered it. To complete the 'Productionslist 780' next info: In the 'Production table' I mis the 1990 B204FT engine. The VIN digits of my car are YV1782282LD009621, so probably the 28 code stands for the B204FT engine. According to the "Certificat de mise hors circulation' (official identification papers of the first owner) the 4 cyl. 16V engine has 1986 cm2, 147 KW. I assume/hope this info is correct?

Have a  1978 262C Bertone - original owner.  Is is in perfect condition, having been babied and garaged always.  Has only 85941easy miles.  Have document from Volvo stating this is one of only 1670 total produced. Of these, sales in US were 821 cars.  I am reluctantly considering selling my 22 year old baby and would be interested in hearing from only those  interested in a pristine car.  I have photos and  service records since first purchase.  Also have interesting publicity brochures.  Aside request ?? - It is very rarely that I ever see a 262  anywhere (1 in the last 3 years) and I am really curious as to how many of the 821 sold in the US are still around in original condition.   Would appreciate hearing from anyone.   Lorraine M. Ik heb gezien dat je in je boekenlijst over de 780 een consumentenbrochure uit 1988 hebt aangegeven.
Ik heb de Nederlandse brochure van 1987 in mijn bezit met het nummer MS/PV 2347-87 NL en een Belgische flyer met het nummer MS/PV 3547-89 B. Wellicht interessant om ook deze nummers op je pagina te vermelden? Ik heb de cover van de 1987 brochure overigens op onze eigen site van de Volvo 700 Vereniging geplaatst.

Hebben jullie overigens deze folders voor mij te koop? Ik ben bezig om zelf een groot archief aan te leggen en ik mis nog enkele brochures.

Where is Mr. Israel Mendez ?
In March 1994 I bought my Volvo 262 Bertone Coupe in Fürth/Germany. It is a 1978 USA/Canada Model - VehicleIdentificationNumber: VC26265LD004066 - silver/black/black.
Mr. Mendez was the first owner. He brought the car from the United States to Germany, because he was working for the US-Army in Fürth/Germany. Because of the army's drawdown he sold the car to me and he and his family (wife, son) left Germany some days later.
My problem:
I bought the car with ATS-alloy-wheels, because Mr. Mendez had the original wheels already shipped back to the States.
He promised me to send them as soon as he arrives at home.
But I never saw them and I couldn't reach him.
Does anybody know this guy called Israel Mendez ???
His former adress is hard to read, maybe something like 6765-1 Burnside Loop (?) in I... R... 66442, former telephonenumber in USA 913-784-2142.. .
His son (date of birth: 29 jan 1970) has  about the same name:
Israel M. Mendez Jr. .
